Hello my friends, and welcome to another beautiful spring season to celebrate!
I love this time of year and am really enjoying all the wonderful projects I’ve been able to be a part of so far in 2024.
After an exciting Rossini role debut in Vienna, I’m in the Eternal City of Rome getting ready to sing my first ever performances of Amina in Bellini’s beautiful opera, La sonnambula. This is a role I have been dreaming of performing for 20 years and it’s finally time to sing it on stage. I’m very grateful to be performing this bel canto showpiece here in Italy. We have 4 performances with a wonderful cast, starting April 9th.
After that, I’m going to be singing concerts, recitals, and galas for the next few weeks. We have a 3-city concert tour planned with my dear friend Benjamin Bernheim, in Paris, Milan, and Baden Baden, featuring French arias and duets.
Then I’ll be part of 2 galas, one in Barcelona and one in London, celebrating in the glorious venues of the Gran Teatre del Liceu and the Royal Opera House.
Additionally, I have 3 scheduled solo-piano recitals, in Budapest, Milan, and Graz. Those performances will feature different programs, highlighting Italian, French, and Spanish art song, as well as opera and zarzuela arias. It’s going to be really fun and full of flavor!
All of these engagements will bring out different pieces and characters to sing, and it’s a pleasure to indulge in them all, like a glorious spring bouquet!

Reviews
It’s hard to imagine a more appropriate choice for the role of Cleopatra than the incandescent Lisette Oropesa. A COQUETTE par excellence, she has the vocal and dramatic prowess to embody Ptolemaic Egypt’s last queen. Her glorious lyric COLORATURA had just the right timbre, feminine and fruity. Vocally, she excelled in all her arias, but her Act II aria “V’adoro pupille” was the most sensual. Technically, her Act III aria “Da tempeste il legno infranto” was the most dazzling.
— Ossama el Naggar • Concerto Net
It is here entrusted to Lisette Oropesa who takes on the tour de force of this role with 8 tunes and the sublime final duet with César. 8 tunes and like the climax of a dance of the 7 veils in his costume in feigned semi-nudity, but with an assumed sensuality, feline and incandescent. His voice, finely woven like silk, is the same: radiant in the high notes, rich in the midrange and always sonorous, even in the lower tones.
— Henry Runey • Classy Keo
But Violetta Valéry, on this Sunday afternoon, is none other than Lisette Oropesa , triumphant with melodious power while perfectly embodying the assumed seductress. His playing and dynamic voice expand the stage and acoustic space, knowing how to pierce the wall of orchestra and hearts with his accents, without neglecting the great moments of sweetness and the clear declamation of the text.
— Juan Barrios • Olyrix
The eagerly awaited role debut of Lisette Oropesa as Mathilde leaves a strong, probably the most engaging impression of the evening . The Habsburg princess beloved by Arnold, the only positive person in the ranks of the Austrian occupiers, only appears in the second act, the heart of the opera. Rossini's colleague Donizetti once said that the first and third acts of the opera came from the best Rossini, but the second probably came from God himself. As if to emphasize this, the soprano sings with a divine voice in heavenly heights, mastering the crazy coloratura with gentle ones , highly sensual tones and is also a real joy in terms of acting.

With Lisette Oropesa, this evening's performance is excellent. Supple, flexible to the utmost extent. Well, what can I say:
The tones of the delicate soprano soar without limits or safety net into airy heights and glide lightly and effortlessly.
Lisette Oropesa's voice is agile only once. How she approaches the runs and blends the coloratura cleanly together, without suffering a single register break. Her vocal instrument flows and flows like golden honey trickling down.
Her voice always sounds warm, full-bodied, and saturated, so much so that one can hardly get enough of the rich color palette.
A force to be reckoned with in terms of acting, one truly enjoys this extraordinarily brilliant portrayal of Mathilde.

Reflections
As much as I love the winter, its end is sometimes gentle, sometimes harsh. Once in a while we float into spring, and other times we run face-first into it. I’m not sure which transition I like better.
Either way, the adjustment is always one that takes a little shaking off for me. As I get comfortable with the time change, the sudden blue skies, the brighter sunlight, I’m reminded that life stretches, it shifts, and you have to flow right along with it. Get busy moving, or get busy falling behind.
I love the inspiration that a fresh bud brings to a tree, and the surprise of a young blossom, and it reminds me that youth is also a part of growth, that youth is not the past, but it is the present, and you get another version of it every year.
I am not the same singer I was when I was 20 and started studying Sonnambula, this same role that I’m only just now getting to debut at age 40.
But then again, I’m a brand new 40 year old.
